DEAD WRIGHT

Tribute art show in LA for director Edgar Wright in Gallery 1988 in LA.

Dead Wright was the name given to a collabrative creative project between myself and model maker, artist and friend Elin Adler. Having being invited to take part in the Edgar Wright Tribute Art Show in Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles we both wanted to create work together that would be both interactive and for display on the night of the opening.

The idea was to create an Edgar Wright zombie pinata and invite the real Edgar to take at himself on the night. The pinata would be filled with artwork created by Elin and myself. Using her model making skills Elin would sculpt, mould and cast brains, zombie limbs and maggots which would be housed inside the pinata.

I created a novelty Sean of the Dead styled cricket bat which would be used to attack the Dead Wright pińata.

Along with the pińata we also created a collection of Dead Wright models and illustrated woodcuts. Elin created a fierce looking Spider Mouse in reference to the Edgar Wrights classic 'Spaced' and her Hot Fuzz piece 'Swan of the Dead'. I cut and illustrated 8 wood cut pairs, all referencing my favourite characters from Edgar Wrights work.

After some long nights and a scary wait for US customs to clear some choclate brains  we finally displayed all the work at what was an amazing show.
