Engage Project
Engage was a project from TANK collective In association with Eircom. A public art installation involving phone boxes around Dublin City. The aim was to remind people of the once popular communication stations dotted around our urban landscapes. Hoping to engage people with public phones again 6 artists and designers were invited to create their own installations In selected boxes around the city. These would be interactive, welcoming and hope to inspire, amuse and connect people with the city and its culture.
For my installation I transformed a phone box on Georges Street, Dublin Into a large Lionel Richie Diorama. Inspired by Lionel Richies video for his hit 'Hello' I wanted the public have fun In the most simplistic way, by picking up the receiver of a phone and saying 'Hello'.
This project from TANK Collective and Eircom was launched on Culture Night and ran for about two weeks. Each of the phone box installations proved to be a huge success and brought new life to the streets that they lived on.
