Lost In New York
A Home Alone 2 inspired wall hanging sculpture created for Gallery 1988's Crazy 4 Cult NYC 2 show.
The wooden city skyline is made up of laser cut birch ply layers , each hand painted and detailed. The belly of NYC is lit up as a tiny Kevin McAllister enters one of the finest toy dealerships in NYC. Surrounding Duncan's Toy Chest is a flood of toy like traffic. Each wooden car, taxi or truck is hand cut and painted, made to resemble classic Micro Machines which were used as one of the boobie traps in the first Home Alone movie.

New York City imagined as a child would have seen it in 1992.
Each city scape layer is laser cut and painted. The Plaza Hotel and Duncan's Toy Chest being most prominent.
The city layers are painted in dark tones the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center being the darkest.
More details of the laser cut layers.
Behind the Plaza hotel layer lays a dark frosty Central Park with tiny tree details.
The artwork is made of birch ply, marine ply and mdf. Each layer is hand painted. The cars trucks and city traffic is hand from marine ply and made to resemble micro machines.

You can't make a NYC artwork and not give the who's ya gonna calls a nod.
Hidden beneath the city layer I have two painted wood inhalers. I had chronic asthma in 1992 and surely watched Home Alone 2 gasping for breath.
