Ah Leggy Dunne. This morning had that air of Festivals about It. You know who likes Festivals? Mr Paddy Find A Leg Dunne thats who. Dedicated to that time Paddy found a leg at Forbidden Fruit Festival and danced with it all night long.

Padruary

Padruary was a personal daily drawing project and exercise where I turned my friend and creative collaborator Mr Paddy Dunne into a character of himself and made daily illustrations of his adventures. I renamed the month of February to Padruary just like in January 2012 when I tried the same project calling it Paduary. Unlike Paduary 2012 where I failed to draw a picture each day, this year I wanted to dedicate myself to the idea. I would take time out of each morning to make a hand drawn illustration with what ever materials I had available to hand.

This daily routine allowed me to draw more, think fast and on the spot and create an almost advent calendar styled illustration project online for everyone to enjoy.

I especially liked the days where I was caught off guard like the 10th and the 11th day when I was staying In a hotel so I had to be a little Macgyver-esque.

The constant routine made drawing fun again which I have missed greatly when working to briefs all the time.

There was an interesting psychology throughout the development of this little project which can be measured through the 'Likes' of each post. At the beginning only those who know Paddy personally found them interesting, funny and enjoyed the personal jokes. The more this little character illustrated more personality and became a more frequent edition to peoples Facebook pages the more people connected with him and then began requesting little scenarios for me to illustrate the following morning. To those have did not know the real Paddy Dunne it was fun seeing him come to life on the last day, and then abruptly walk off into the sunset on his dinosaur.

I have always loved comic book characters based on real people and that thought that some day you may bump into them. There is magic In that I think, to bring the imaginary and real life into the same frame. I have never gotten over Who Framed Roger Rabbit, thats what I was trying to say for 28 days.

Each little paddy pic Is based on the true life of Paddy Dunne . No Paddys were hurt in the making of this project. Each of the pictures are in order of the day they were posted with info on each of the them.

Hopefully we may see Paddy again next year.
